The Mazzella EE1 polyester single-leg web sling has twisted eye-and-eye endings and heavy-duty one-ply webbing for lifting fragile or irregularly shaped loads with vertical, choker, or basket configurations in construction, general industry, and other low-heat applications. The polyester webbing is soft to avoid scratching fragile or delicate loads. This web sling is flexible, conforms to irregularly shaped loads, and has a better strength-to-weight ratio than a wire rope or chain sling. This polyester web sling resists several chemicals, including alcohols, some acids, bleach agents, hydrocarbons, ketones, oils, detergents, sea water, and weak alkalis. However, it does not resist concentrated sulfuric acid, aldehydes, strong alkalis at elevated temperatures, or ethers. The stretch of a polyester sling at its maximum load capacity is approximately 3%.

This twisted eye-and-eye (also called type 4) sling has an eye, or loop, on both ends, and can be used with vertical, choker, and basket lifting configurations. It forms a better choker hitch and single-hook basket hitch than a flat eye-and-eye sling. The sling’s heavy-duty webbing is denser and has a higher capacity than light-duty one-ply webbing, but it has a lower capacity than a two- or four-ply web sling. When the sling's red warning yarn becomes visible, this indicates the sling is no longer fit for use. This sling meets American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) specification B30.9 and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) specification 1910.184.

"p"Slings are used to lift heavy objects for industrial applications. Types of slings include web slings, wire rope slings, chain slings, and mesh slings. The appropriate type of sling for an application depends on the strength-to-weight ratio, flexibility and resistance to bending, resistance to abrasion and cutting, resistance to crushing, resistance to stretching, and resistance to high temperatures and other environmental stressors. Slings have one, two, three, or four legs. Legs are support branches that extend from a single point at the top of the sling to the item being lifted so the weight of the load is distributed evenly among the branches. Slings have eyes (loops) or alloy steel fittings on the ends.

"p"A vertical lifting configuration connects a crane hook directly to a load with a single, vertical sling, usually by means of a hook. In a choker configuration, the sling wraps entirely around the load, and one loop passes through the other to form a slip noose, or choker. In a basket configuration, the sling passes under the load and both ends of the sling connect to the crane hook. Load capacity is the maximum weight to be lifted in a vertical configuration. The capacity in a choker configuration is approximately equal to the vertical capacity times 0.8. The capacity in a basket configuration, with sling ends at a 90-degree angle, is approximately equal to twice the vertical capacity. Load capacity in a basket configuration decreases if the angle of the sling is less than 90 degrees. For example, a sling with a capacity of 2,000 lb. in a vertical configuration will have an approximate capacity of (2,000)(0.8)=1,600 lb. in a choker configuration and an approximate capacity of (2,000)(2)=4,000 lb. in a basket configuration, if the sling ends are at a 90-degree angle to the load.

Long-term outcomes from the phase II L-MIND study of tafasitamab (MOR208) plus lenalidomide in patients with relapsed or refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma

This open-label, single-arm study investigated the long-term efficacy of tafasitamab plus lenalidomide in 81 patients with relapsed/refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. The response rate was 57.5%, including complete responses in 40.0% of patients, and the median duration of response was 43.9 months. This treatment is a valuable option for patients not eligible for autologous stem-cell transplantation.

Clinical genomic profiling of novel grey zone lymphoma paired lesions with sequential central nervous system involvement in two adolescent patients

Grey zone lymphoma is a B-cell lymphoma, unclassifiable, with features intermediate between those of large B-cell lymphoma and classic Hodgkin lymphoma. The in-depth study of the two adolescent patients described in this case report expands the clinicopathological and genomic spectrum of this rare pediatric disease. Moreover, it provides information on their response to treatment.

CAMT-MPL: congenital amegakaryocytic thrombocytopenia caused by MPL mutations - heterogeneity of a monogenic disorder - a comprehensive analysis of 56 patients

The clinical picture of 56 patients with congenital amegakaryocytic thrombocytopenia due to MPL mutations was much more varied than previously thought. Twenty-five per cent of them had no signs of thrombocytopenia at birth, and 50% had non-hematologic defects. Pancytopenia developed in (nearly) all patients and hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation was effective in 87% of cases.

Oxidative stress activates red cell adhesion to laminin in sickle cell disease

Sickle red blood cells exhibit abnormal adhesion to laminin mediated by Lu/BCAM protein at their surface. This study provides evidence of the involvement of oxidative stress in post-translational modifications of Lu/BCAM which impact the protein’s distribution and cis-interaction with glycophorin C at the cell surface activating its adhesive function in dense sickle red cells. The authors speculate that antioxidant drugs might attenuate this phenomenon.
